TCO Simulation Methodology

Data collected for TCO parameters were normalized to make it applicable for a standard mileage of 300,000Km over a period of 4 years.
Example-1: if total maintenance cost for a vehicle is AED 25,000 for 200,000 Km then it is normalized for 300,000 Km as

= (AED 25,000 / 200,000 Km) * 300,000 Km
= AED 37,500

Example-2: if total finance cost for a vehicle is AED 24,000 for 3 Years then it is normalized for 4 Years as

= (AED 24,000 / 3 Years ) * 4 Years
= AED 32,000

Normalized data of TCO parameters for each vehicle are denoted as:

Patrol V8: Y1, Y2, Y3,… to Y9
LC V6: A1, A2, A3,… to A9
LC V8: B1, B2, B3,… to B9

Purchase price of Patrol V6 is assumed to be equivalent to purchase price of LC V6 collected from fieldwork.

This enabled like-to-like comparison across vehicles and also to compare TCO of Patrol V6 vis-à-vis LC V6.

TCO for Patrol V6 is calculated using formulas shown below:
